I’m Jonathan Meilaender, a law student at Harvard and a graduate student at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service. I’m especially interested in strategy and statesmanship—what some might call Grand Strategy, I suppose, though it is dangerous to claim grandeur. Domestic values and foreign policy are not separate. America is founded on an idea—a unique concept of freedom, which, as Tocqueville implies, blends liberty with duty, and a concept never fully divorced from any American policy. This groundwork both empowers and limits the statesman, while offering America a path into the future.
